7 Days in the Art World by Sarah Thornton next week.

  • Please read the Introduction and chapters 1&2
  • Be ready to dialog and discuss these chapters in class on 4/5/2011

WEEK 5 Assignment:

Mid-Quarter Assignment: Interview in the Art Business

DUE: 4/12/2011 at 2pm!

  • Find Someone in the Gallery/Museum Business and write a 2 page paper (double Spaced) on their marketing philosophies, business ethics and Branding.
  • Give a Short 5 minute report on the knowledge you have acquired from the dialogue with them.
  • All papers will be due in class at the time of presentation.

  1. Find 2 mission statements to share on the blog:one's that you find effective?
  2. What is R.I.T's mission statement?
  3. What is Gallery r's mission statement? Where can you read it?
Write revisions to either #1(must be done through blog) or #3 Gallery r's mission statement.

AGM Class 1/28/2011

Art Gallery Management class will be meeting across campus at building 60 (theNTID Johnson Hall) where we will meet in the first floor gallery: Dyer ArtCenterright at 2 pm.

From the Dyer Art Center, we will car pool to MCC where weare to meet with the Mercer Gallery Art Director (Kathy Farrell) who willdiscuss the current show: The Freedom Place Collection + herresponsibilities for managing an educational gallery.

Then we return to campus and to our Gannett classroom where we will discussthe next chapter of the 7 Days in the Art Word (Wendy Chen will be presenting her Chapter).

See you at the NTID Dyer 2pm. Thanks!!

"The Here and There Show" - A Gallery r Exhibit

2/2/2011 - NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATE!
The Opening reception will occur on Wednesday from 5-? in Neblette Conference room and the Dean's Cases.
I am looking into reserving an additional space for an alternative sight tomorrow morning. I will also be looking for volunteers to assist in the curating and hanging.

We will discuss this and the Gallery r Benefit in tomorrow's class :)

Presenters should bring supplemental information on the chapter topic!!

**All Students should read the Chapters, the presenters will simply lead the dialog.
